An Article By: Daisey, the "Paws-itive" Beagle
“Faith the size of a mustard seed.”
Those words first captured my mommy Catherine many years ago (when she was in her late teen years or early 20s). It’s a phrase from the Bible verse, Matthew 17:20:
“...For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there', and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” -- Matthew 17:20 New Revised Standard Version, Anglicised Catholic Edition (NRSVACE)
When Catherine got into photography professionally, the Bible verse from Matthew 17:20 inspired her to take the photo you see at the start of this article.
This photo is available in several stock photo agencies. It’s also currently Catherine's best-selling photo in Dreamstime and Can Stock Photo. Please keep in mind that Catherine still has a small photo portfolio. But she's so grateful this photo is capturing interest and that the people who have purchased it can now “sprinkle goodness” in their own ways.
That’s one of the great advantages of doing stock photography – your creativity can help spread "paws-itivity" in our world. For example, here is one way Catherine's photo is now being used. It’s on an ebook cover! You can see “Planting Seeds of Faith” on the ebook cover here.
The hands you see in this image are Matt's hands. Catherine asked Matt to hold the mustard seeds and the engraved "Faith" stone in his hands -- over soil. Catherine then snapped away. When she got to her computer, she chose the strongest image, edited it, added a title, keywords, and a description. Then uploaded it to numerous stock photo agencies.
Catherine is grateful for Matt's help. She's also grateful "Planting Seeds of Faith" is an image that's helping other people.
What's more, because the Bible verse from Matthew 17:20 inspired Catherine so much, she hoped for a deeper understanding about it. She really likes the writings of Norman Vincent Peale (such as "The Power of Positive Thinking") in helping her understand Bible verses better, and how they relate to daily living.
But for this article, Catherine asked Christian writer Debbie for help. Debbie writes Biblical based articles or studies showing how the Bible relates to our daily lives.
She has taught hundreds of Bible studies and led many worship services, too. When Catherine received Debbie’s writing, one thing stood out to her that she'd like to share with you today. It was Debbie's explanation on what the “mountain” represents in Matthew 17:20. If you’re interested in learning more too, you can see what Debbie shared with Catherine, below...
Remember, with God all things are possible.
Jesus says it just takes a small faith.
Sometimes we are dependent upon God to provide our most desperate need and our faith in Him is great. Yet many times we forget that He is the Almighty, All Powerful, Holy God who loves us so much that He even gave His very own son to bring salvation to us.
Jesus uses the mountain to try to explain that while they may not be moving the mountain, there are ‘mountains’ in our lives that we must trust Him to provide the power to overcome. As we grow in our faith, we will see God perform His wonders and works in our lives. With that growth in faith, we will be able to help others to overcome their roadblocks, their difficulties that to them seem impossible to remove from their lives.
Greater miracles than we can imagine are available to us as we seek to follow Christ and share His word with others. Faith grows with exercise. Love others. Share Jesus with them. Plant the seeds of faith in those around you and trust God to move the mountains. He is able.
Thank you, Debbie!
I hope you find inspiration from today’s article and "Planting Seeds of Faith" photo example, too.
